My thesis work: CONCEALMENT is a series of hand fabricated lockets which contain products that my personal security depends upon. The burdens of my skin and body problems have motivated me to create jewelry that serves both aesthetically and functionally. In response to the consumption of my thoughts, anxiety, and insecurities, my jewelry pieces are an investigation between wearable forms and its relationship to the body. These jewelry pieces make my anxiety and insecurities disappear through knowing I have these protective items close to my at all times. I am exploring the notion of concealment through the curiosity of what a container can hold as well as what I am personally comfortable sharing with my viewers.
*To be concealed inside this cloud box is a solid perfume insert, making it easily accessible for times of desired pick-me-ups. *To be concealed inside this hinged ring is lip balm, a product I use frequently throughout the day. A hinge and magnetic closure allows me to easily open the ring for application. *To be concealed in this necklace is generous amount of eczema cream, a product that is essential in order to make my skin comfortable.
